Year End Appeal

Dear Friend,

For almost a decade, the Skatepark of Baltimore has served as a beacon of hope for the 30,000 Baltimore area skateboarders by advocating to build a world class, public, concrete skatepark in the City of Baltimore. Thanks to supporters like you, we celebrated this past May with a GRAND OPENING of the first phase of our park - a 5,000 square-foot, world class, concrete bowl at Roosevelt Park in Hampden at a cost of $180,000.

In addition to the official opening of the bowl, Skatepark of Baltimore boasts several accomplishments during 2014:

The holiday season is underway and there is great excitement for the SECOND PHASE of the Skatepark of Baltimore - a 15,000 square-foot street plaza - to be constructed in 2015.

Our vision has always been to provide a safe place to recreate for skateboarding youth. Now that vision is becoming a reality. But we are not done yet! Although the grant funding will cover construction, we still need to fundraise to support planning for Phase II and maintenance of the park. Your donations have already helped cover the $6,500 deposit to Pillar Designs for designing Phase II. We still need to raise another $6,500 to complete the plans. In addition, we are raising funds to continue our community stewardship of the park. Plans for 2015 include replacing broken benches with skateable benches, and developing reserve funds for unexpected expenses such as responding to damage or vandalism.

Please consider the Skatepark of Baltimore when making donations this holiday season.

Towards these ends, we are also announcing our monthly donor campaign. Individuals who pledge at least $10 per month will receive a wood-encased USB drive with the Skatepark of Baltimore logo on it. To sign up as a monthly donor, click on “donate now”.

We cannot thank you enough for taking the time to support our vision for a public skatepark in Baltimore and for your consideration of our request. Please place the Skatepark of Baltimore at the top of your donation list and know that by making a gift, you will have tremendous impact on the youth of Baltimore. We thank you in advance and wish you a wonderful holiday season.
