Phase I Complete!

Celebrate this momentous occasion with us on Saturday, May 3rd for the skatepark's official Grand Opening. Learn more about this special FREE event.

Skatepark of Baltimore is proud to announce that Phase I of the skatepark is complete and open for use at Roosevelt Park in Hampden. While SoB facilitated the creation of this state-of-the-art concrete bowl, please note that the park is owned and operated by the Baltimore City Department of Parks & Recreation.

This wouldn't have been possible without you! The designs & construction of the first phase were funded by $80,000 in grassroots fundraising, $98,000 in grants, and a $90,000 match from Baltimore City Department of Parks & Recreation that was made possible because our community has been so outspoken and supportive. Our volunteers also contributed countless hours towards this progress.

What's next?

Our work isn't done yet; we need more square footage of park to meet the needs of Baltimore skateboarders. We are already hard at work planning for Phase II and Phase III, which will form a state-of-the-art street plaza.

In order to build our street plaza in 2015, we need to raise an additional $150,000 through a combination of grassroots donations, city funding, corporate donations. Please help us get there by making a donation online or volunteering with Skatepark of Baltimore.

Seven years ago, our grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Skatepark of Baltimore, was formed to facilitate the construction of a public concrete skatepark in Baltimore. I am happy to announce that we are significantly closer to that goal. We have secured our site through a partnership with the City, completed our park designs with community and youth input, and began securing fundraising commitments towards the cost of construction. We recently received a $25,000 grant from the Tony Hawk Foundation. With the help of foundations and donors like you throughout Maryland, we have raised $80,000 to date. We are in the midst of a matching campaign with the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks in which there is now an agreement to match us at $75,000 for construction of the skatepark. We have until May 31, 2012 to raise an additional $5,000 to receive the match and begin construction of the park in 2012. We have met and exceeded our goal for $75,000 as of 5/28/12. We need your help for our capital campaign for the construction of the park.
